A crew of aquatic researchers work to get to safety after an earthquake devastates their subterranean laboratory. But the crew has more than the ocean seabed to fear.
Action Drama - This is a science fiction action/horror thriller with a small ensemble cast, with Kristen Stewart playing the focal role. While rated PG-13, there are a lot of intense and scary sequences that make the film not for kids.
Roger EbertFull Review Good ...the kind of no-nonsense B-movie with an A-list cast that Hollywood used to make more often. It's a lean and mean film that gets you into its action instantly and then doesn't release the pressure until the ending credits. ...it's refreshing to see a tight movie that knows exactly what it needs to do and sets about doing it.
Rolling StoneFull Review Below Average ...a Soggy "Alien" Rip-Off... ...this water-logged rip-off is a career low (for Kristen Stewart) that traps her playing one note of clenched anxiety from first to agonizing last. She deserves better than 95 minutes of derivative dumbness. So does the audience.
Rex ReedFull Review Terrible Incoherent and blasted to deafening cacophony by a horrible musical score that renders the already incomprehensible technological dialogue undecipherable, there is nothing to keep it going but noise...
Slant MagazineFull Review Below Average The film doesn't put in the effort to reach for the heights of Alien or plant its tongue firmly in cheek a la Deep Blue Sea. ...the film is so lacking in suspense...because Eubank rushes through scenes and blankets them in wall-to-wall dialogue instead of using long stretches of silence to emphasize the deep ocean's tense, eerie ambience.
