Storyline Heading
The first family of Halloween, the Addams Family, is back on the big screen in the first animated comedy about the kookiest family on the block. Funny, outlandish, and completely iconic, the Addams Family redefines what it means to be a good neighbor.
.
Movie Type (Genre) Heading
Animated Comedy Fantasy - This is an animated adaptation of the popular characters from the comic strip and, most notably, 1960s television series and 1990s live action feature films. Like all of those, this film has a streak of dark humor throughout and some creepy horror imagery, but most families will find this to be safe for kids outside of the very youngest.

Critic's Review Heading

Berardinelli, Internet Critic Full Review
Average ...although faithful in its look to Addams' vision, is a disappointment. Lackluster and restrained, it employs a dull story to present a message about the importance of diversity and the evils of assimilation. With sledgehammer subtlety, it transforms the antics of the titular clan into a tract for political correctness.

Roger Ebert Full Review
Average There are about half a dozen bright spots in the new animated feature "The Addams Family," but in between them is the unbright and unoriginal storyline about how the real monsters are the ordinary people, not the weird people.
