An over-the-hill hitman faces off against a younger clone of himself.
Action Crime Drama - This science fiction action-adventure is a big showcase for Will Smith, who plays two roles. Mary Elizabeth Winstead has a significant supporting role though Clive Owen's screen time is fairly limited. Some violence and language make the film too intense for younger children.
PROFANITY: 1 F-word; 10 S-words; 3 GD's; a few others. SEX/NUDITY: None. VIOLENCE: Fights and shootings with some blood. DRUGS/ALCOHOL: Some alcohol and tobacco. ACTION: Fights, chases, explosions, gunplay. COMEDY: Some comic lines.
Berardinelli, Internet CriticFull Review Above Average On the whole, Gemini Man boasts its share of entertaining moments and set pieces... But there are dead spots in between the action sequences where the exposition becomes too dense and the pacing drags. At the end, there's also a sense of "Is that all there is?” as if the movie couldn't quite live up to expectations for it to do something more.
Roger EbertFull Review Average "Gemini Man” never pretends to be anything but a time-wasting contraption hoping to entertain its viewer. I can't reasonably be mad at its honesty, and despite the horrendous dialogue its actors are often forced to speak, I found myself enjoying a fair amount of it.
USA TodayFull Review Average The movie shoots for the moon with an intriguing dual-role conceit but wildly misses the mark. Hackneyed dialogue, a thin and silly plot fumbling the ambition of the concept, and a mixed bag of visual effects all leave this one just for the Smith completists.
NY PostFull Review Average "Gemini Man” shows occasional flashes of the eye-catching action that made 2000's "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon” a hit, including a propulsive motorcycle chase through the streets of Cartagena, Colombia.Unfortunately, the rest of the film is closer to Lee's "Hulk,” an often-draggy, muddled misfire. Much of the blame can be placed on the script
