A young bride joins her new husband's rich, eccentric family in a time-honored tradition that turns into a lethal game with everyone fighting for their survival.
Horror Mystery Thriller - This is a very violent and bloody dark comedy for adult audiences. The cast is made up of up-and-comers and veteran character actors, the most familiar of the latter being Andie MacDowell and Adam Brody. Constant language in addition to the graphic violence make the film not for kids.
PROFANITY: Well over 30 F-words; over 30 S-words; 5 GD's; a number of others. SEX/NUDITY: None. VIOLENCE: Bloody and brutal fights and killings. DRUGS/ALCOHOL: Alcohol, tobacco, cocaine, pills. ACTION: Chases and fights. COMEDY: Constant darkly comic lines and situations.
Berardinelli, Internet CriticFull Review Good Although the concept is unapologetically simplistic, the narrative offers its share of surprises. There are times when the story progresses as expected but, on other occasions, it defies predictability. And, more often than not, those twists are associated with big laughs.
Roger EbertFull Review Good ...the film is charismatic and thrilling enough to bypass its shortcomings. Weaving makes for a very likable hero, with a broad comedic appeal, an every-girl clumsiness and sarcastic rejoinder for everything.
The GuardianFull Review Below Average A tantalising setup, which sees a newlywed playing a deadly game of hide and seek, falls apart in a film that's neither funny or scary enough to work. From the outset, there's a sharpness missing from the dialogue, withering one-liners failing to cut deep, barely scratching the surface instead.
