Action Adventure Comedy - This spinoff of the long-running The Fast
and the Furious is more of a comedy than
the main series and a big buddy action
showcase for stars Dwayne Johnson and Jason
Statham. While blood is at a minimum, there is
a lot of brutal action violence that will
bring pause to parents, as well as some
language. Young adult males are
PROFANITY: 1 F-word; 10 S-words; 4 GD's; a number of others. SEX/NUDITY: None. VIOLENCE: Brutal fights, shootings with minimally seen blood. DRUGS/ALCOHOL: Some alcohol. ACTION: Fights, shootouts, chases, explosions, destruction. COMEDY: Constant silly banter and wisecracks, sometimes vaguely suggestive; sight and physical gags.
Berardinelli, Internet CriticFull Review Above Average Johnson, Statham, and Kirby are tremendous together. It's a shame we don't get more scenes of these three just hanging out. The result, although fitfully entertaining, is bloated. Hobbs & Shaw is a "classic” summer movie in every sense.
Roger EbertFull Review Above Average As critics have said before about similar projects, it's a movie to eat popcorn to and leave your worries at the door. While the rap on Hollywood is that they are now in the business of making product instead of movies, "Hobbs and Shaw” is one of the most fun shiny new products of the season.
USA TodayFull Review Above Average ...checks all the boxes for the rousing, over-the-top ludicrousness you'd expect from a cinematic universe where there's never been an abundance of believability. ...in trying to break free from being "Fast and Furious,” "Hobbs & Shaw” forgets to maintain the balance of insanity and heart that makes the series special.
NY PostFull Review Average The Rock is funny and charismatic in "Hobbs & Shaw," and his bro chemistry with co-star Jason Statham is a joy. The pair slinging vicious insults at each other is almost vaudevillian... ...a ho-hum spy comedy. There are two big chases, which live up to the series' entire reason for existing.

OPINION OVERVIEW The following is the original "What's Worth
Watching" write-up for this movie.
Based on a theater exit polling of 105 moviegoers:
GREAT REVIEWS! The vast majority of moviegoers LOVED "HOBBS & SHAW." Another large percentage indicated that they enjoyed this movie very much rating it "Very Good." Only a few rated it as low as "good/average."
Ever since hulking lawman Hobbs (Johnson), a loyal agent of America's Diplomatic
Security Service, and lawless outcast Shaw (Statham), a former British military
elite operative, first faced off in 2015's Furious 7, the duo have swapped smack
talk and body blows as they've tried to take each other down.
But when cyber-genetically enhanced anarchist Brixton (Idris Elba) gains control
of an insidious bio-threat that could alter humanity forever - and bests a
brilliant and fearless rogue MI6 agent (The Crown's Vanessa Kirby), who just
happens to be Shaw's sister - these two sworn enemies will have to partner up to
bring down the only guy who might be badder than themselves.
Hobbs & Shaw blasts open a new door in the Fast universe as it hurtles action
across the globe, from Los Angeles to London and from the toxic wasteland of
Chernobyl to the lush beauty of Samoa.
