The Men in Black have always protected the Earth from the scum of the universe. In this new adventure, they tackle their biggest threat to date: a mole in the Men in Black organization.
Action Comedy Sci-Fi - This is the fourth film in the science fiction action comedy series
but the first to not feature original stars Will Smith and Tommy Lee
Jones. The only returning cast members from any of the previous
films is Emma Thompson from the third, with the leads here being
series newcomers Tessa Thompson and Chris Hemsworth. Some mild
language, innuendo, and intense action scenes may be of concern to
parents of young kids, but parents for pre-teens and above will find
this to be generally safe viewing.
Chris Hemsworth AVENGERS: ENDGAME, BAD TIMES AT THE EL ROYALE Tessa Thompson CREED II, ANNIHILATION Liam Neeson COLD PURSUIT, WIDOWS, THE COMMUTER Director: F. Gary Gray THE FATE OF THE FURIOUS, STRAIGHT OUTTA COMPTON
PROFANITY: 3 S-words; a few others. SEX/NUDITY: None. VIOLENCE: Fights, shootings without blood. DRUGS/ALCOHOL: Some alcohol. ACTION: Fights, chases, explosions, destruction. COMEDY: Banter and wisecracks, sometimes suggestive;silly sight and physical gags.
Berardinelli, Internet CriticFull Review Below Average If I used words like "tiresome” and "lazy” to describe this pointless remake/reboot, it wouldn't be sufficient to express the apathy I feel for Columbia Pictures' sad attempt to exhume a franchise that was pronounced dead by the time the third installment arrived in theaters. For those who remember the Men in Black movies fondly, stick with your memories.
Roger EbertFull Review Below Average The script is easily the movie's worst quality, as so many pieces fall into place out of convenience. Certain rules of this franchise, like not being seen with alien tech in public, are wholeheartedly ignored in scenes involving an alien motorcycle. Other plot points are so telegraphed they can hardly be considered a twist.
NY PostFull Review Poor ...takes over from a perfectly good comedy film series, and turns it into witless, generic space debris. ...there's nothing to like... Not its unfunny leads with wax-paper-thin backstories. Not its rendering of should-be-exciting international cities.... Definitely not Liam Neeson. Nothing.
Rex ReedFull Review Below Average I saw it with my 12-year-old daughter for whom it served as her introduction to the MiB world, and she found it to be good, if innocuous, fun. Even still, Men in Black: International was empty enough to provoke a healthy and necessary cynicism."Basically,” she said "that was a very long, very expensive Lexus commercial.”
