Robin of Loxley a war-hardened Crusader and his Moorish commander mount an audacious revolt against the corrupt English crown.
Action Adventure - The latest screen version of the classic hero is still a period piece
set in England, but it is a much more gritty action-oriented take,
with a modern sensibility--particularly reflected in the costumes.
Purists may blanch at the many deviations from most versions of the
story. Fans of Taron Egerton and Jamie Foxx should enjoy though
Jamie Dornan fans may be disappointed by his limited role. Brutal
violence and some language make the film not for young kids.

Roger EbertFull Review Average ...captures the heart of the legend, but frustratingly fails to translate it. Bluntly political and surprisingly coherent in its messaging, the movie is filled with deliberately modern details signaling that it's a folktale aimed at modern multiplex audiences...
NY PostFull Review Poor ...little more than a pitch-black war film, complete with rudimentary medieval bombs and blood spatter on the camera lens. ...The cast is uniformly terrible. In director Otto Bathurst's new "Hood,” Nottingham looks like a Roman fortress where everybody shops at Zara.
Slant MagazineFull Review Above Average Robin Hood is an unapologetic B movie. The acting is hammy, the CGI is chintzy... There's something oddly charming about the film's embrace of its tackiness, particularly the way it mashes up the modern and the medieval with un-self-conscious glee.
