A young girl is transported into a magical world of gingerbread soldiers and an army of mice.
Adventure Fantasy - This is an effects-heavy fantasy film based on the holiday-themed
story and ballet. There are a couple of brief dance sequences, but
overall the focus is on adventure. The known veteran stars in the
film, from Keira Knightley and Helen Mirren to Morgan Freeman and
Eugenio Derbez, only have smaller supporting roles. There are some
scary moments and images that may be intense for very young children,
but on the whole most parents will find this safe viewing for their kids.

Berardinelli, Internet CriticFull Review Average Designed for and targeted at prepubescent girls, the holiday-themed fantasy adventure drowns in CGI, underdeveloped characters, and a plot utterly devoid of energy and excitement. ...visually titillated but otherwise unimpressed with this latest fairy tale interpretation.
Roger EbertFull Review Below Average ... a weirdly hideous hodgepodge of images and ideas, as convoluted as its confusing title would suggest. It's at once familiar and bizarre, overstuffed yet half-baked. And while it boasts impressive individual elements, the overall result remains far from the magic it seeks.
NY PostFull Review Poor ...a dark political allegory — exactly what audiences are craving! — filled with propaganda and smear campaigns. Some of the powerful characters you thought were good are evil and vice versa. It's like "Wicked,” but wretched.
Slant MagazineFull Review Below Average Visually, the film compensates for the two-dimensionality of its writing and acting. There are also impressive set pieces... Unfortunately, the film succumbs to the predictability of Disney relying on war as a means of providing an ostensibly exciting narrative backbone to its contemporary fantasies...
