Roger EbertFull Review Above Average It's the kind of movie where you decide to do something and just go do it, and where no questions are off limits because everyone's so thoughtful. I bet Mister Rogers would have enjoyed it. If you laughed derisively at that line, you shouldn't see "A Wrinkle in Time." If it made you smile, go.
USA TodayFull Review Average L'Engle's source material is a sneakily deep novel for youngsters, and Jennifer Lee and Jeff Stockwell's screenplay doesn't do nearly enough with those themes of death, loss and parents letting their children down. Instead, theirs is a patchwork adaptation with weak character development, a lack of narrative groove and a haphazard finish.
NY PostFull Review Average I'll say this for "A Wrinkle in Time”: It's all heart. But you need more than that to make a decent action movie, and director Ava DuVernay's adaptation of Madeleine L'Engle's classic young adult novel is too often content to smile beatifically instead of delivering the necessary thrills.

OPINION OVERVIEW The following is the original "What's Worth
Watching" write-up for this movie.
Based on a theater exit polling of 98 moviegoers:
CHILDREN: All but about 10% either loved "A Wrinkle in Time" or they enjoyed it very much.
TEENS: This is obviously not a movie teen males enjoyed much. Less than 20% loved it. The vast majority felt it was only an "average" movie (enjoyable but nothing special or memorable). About 20% actually rated it "below average." Teen female reviews are just the opposite. Ten of the twelve ladies loved this movie, with the remaining two rating it "average."
TWENTYSOMETHINGS: The two males in this group loved it, but there aren't enough reviews to be accurate, especially considering the teen male and the adult male reviews aren't very good. All the ladies loved "A Wrinkle in Time."
ADULTS: The adult reviews aren't bad but they aren't great. Half the males and 65% of the females loved it. Another 15% of the ladies and 20% of males enjoyed it very much. Unfortunately, quite a few rated it just "average," or lower.
