Storyline Heading
Peter Rabbit, the mischievous and adventurous hero who has captivated generations of readers, now takes on the starring role of his own irreverent, contemporary comedy with attitude. In the film, Peter's feud with Mr. McGregor escalates to greater heights than ever before as they rival for the affections of the warm-hearted animal lover who lives next door.

Movie Type (Genre) Heading
Animated Adventure Comedy - This is an effects-heavy family comedy based on the classic children's book series, but the tone here is less classical and more modern and irreverent--meaning some moments of mildly crude humor that only the most sensitive parents of very young children will be offended by. Fans of stars Rose Byrne and Domhnall Gleeson will also enjoy. Sam Neill only has a very small part.

Critic's Review Heading

Roger Ebert Full Review
Average ...many of the young kids in the crowd were laughing raucously at the slapstick escapades. And, yes, Peter eventually does the right thing and makes peace with the humans. Clearly there is a severe case of "Paddington” envy here and a hunger for yet another animated franchise. But easy chuckles are no substitute for genuine charm.

Slant Magazine Full Review
Above Average ...the film actually manages to deliver 90 minutes of breezy, charming, and occasionally genuinely clever entertainment. With its mix of live-action and hyper-real animal animation, Peter Rabbit plays like a country cousin to Paul King's Paddington films, similarly balancing slapstick, absurdism, and a touch of gross-out humor...

The Guardian Full Review
Above Average This kids' animation is altogether lively and funny with just enough soul, even if it comes at the expense of Potter's sensitivity and delicacy. ...a great deal of the comedy works, which does much to gloss over its unevenness.

The following is the original "What's Worth Watching" write-up for this movie.

Moviegoer Opinions:

Based on a theater exit polling of 41 moviegoers:
WOW! These are INCREDIBLE REVIEWS, especially considering this is a movie targeted at kids. It is extremely rare to see this many reviews that are all this high. It's certainly a better movie than the professional movie critics would have you believe. Obviously, this is a "MUST-SEE FAMILY FILM!"
