Believing they have left behind shadowy figures from their past, newlyweds Christian and Ana fully embrace an inextricable connection and shared life of luxury. But just as she steps into her role as Mrs. Grey and he relaxes into an unfamiliar stability, new threats could jeopardize their happy ending before it even begins.
Drama Romantic Thriller - Like the first two films in the series, this is a very
sexually explicit, adults-only romantic drama aimed at
women. Fans of the book and film series, and stars
Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan will enjoy. There is
also some language and violence on top of the explicit
sex and nudity.
PROFANITY: 10 F-words, 13 S-words, 1 GD, a few others. SEX/NUDITY: A lot of graphic sex with nudity, often with toys & S&M elements. VIOLENCE: Hits and fighting with some blood. DRUGS/ALCOHOL: Constant alcohol. ACTION: Car chases. COMEDY: Rare comic lines.
Berardinelli, Internet CriticFull Review Average I didn't hate the movie and there's sufficient eye candy to keep it from being a complete snoozer. Fans of Ana and Christian may be glad to take one last trip around the block with these two. Although Fifty Shades Freed is forgettable, it's not godawful.
Roger EbertFull Review Above Average The problem is there's not enough sex and too much...everything else. Kidnappings. Office drama. There's a gun in a drawer. People are stalked. A helicopter crashes in the mountains. High speed car chases!
USA TodayFull Review Below Average Ludicrous situations are a hallmark of this franchise, and Freed lives up to expectation: Much of the movie is narrative nonsense leading to the next round of nakedness... To her credit, Johnson actually turns in her best Shades stuff here...
Slant MagazineFull Review Above Average ...though Christian's pride and apparently misplaced sense of power are the cause of all of Fifty Shades Freed's goofy narrative curlicues, the film ends with a few earnest appeals to his character. "You were given a life with advantages, but look at what you made with it...
