A small but brave donkey named Bo yearns for a life beyond his daily grind at the village mill. One day he finds the courage to break free, and finally goes on the adventure of his dreams.
Animated Adventure Comedy - This is an animated comedy take on the Nativity Story told from the
perspective of animals around for the birth of Jesus. While telling
a religious story, the comic tone gives it appeal beyond Christian
audiences though they are the primary target. Steven Yeun, Gina
Rodriguez, and Zachary Levi lead the voice cast, with other known
names such as Oprah voicing small parts. There is no objectionable
content except some very mild references to bird droppings.
Roger EbertFull Review Average ...a feature debut that might have its heart in the right place but can't quite manage to smoothly blend the spiritual with the silly without a few Biblical hitches here and there. ...kids in the crowd seemed be more interested in their concession-stand snacks during the early portions.
Slant MagazineFull Review Below Average The Star sidelines Mary and Joseph's story in favor of Bo's generic action-comedy quest. Filled with cookie-cutter slapstick set pieces and child-pandering gags focused on butts, the film is distinguished only by its banal meekness.
