A couple's relationship is tested when uninvited guests arrive at their home, disrupting their tranquil existence.
Drama Horror Mystery - This is not the straightforward horror film that the marketing
suggests but a very weird and potentially confusing psychological
thriller. Jennifer Lawrence fans will enjoy this big showcase while
the other known stars, Javier Bardem, Michelle Pfeiffer, and Ed
Harris have smaller supporting roles. While not a traditional horror
film, there are some very brutal and disturbing scenes of violence,
and that plus language and sexual content make the film not for kids.

Roger EbertFull Review Very Good ...one of the most audacious and flat-out bizarre movies that a major studio has released in years. "mother!” is at times horrifying, at times riveting, at times baffling, and at times like nothing you've ever seen before.
USA TodayFull Review Good The waves of disturbing imagery and hellish bacchanalia earn mother! its exclamation point and leave the viewer drowning in symbolism. It gets under the skin and refuses to leave; Aronofsky tosses an higher-concept grenade that waits a bit to blow your mind.
NY PostFull Review Good "Mother!” is undeniably a wild, memorable ride. There's one incident so grotesque it rivals anything the director did in "Requiem for a Dream” — squeamish viewers should proceed with caution. Ultimately, the vagueness of its creeping terror and dread become customizable to whatever freaks you out the most; watch for an encore presentation in your nightmares.
Rolling StoneFull Review Very Good ...mother! always seems on the verge of exploding. Your head will feel the same way. And I mean that as a compliment. Love it or loathe it – there's probably no in between – the film is an artist's cry from his own corrupt heart.

OPINION OVERVIEW The following is the original "What's Worth
Watching" write-up for this movie.
Based on a theater exit polling of 13 moviegoers:
WOW! The professional movie critics certainly missed the mark on this movie! They all really enjoyed "Mother," but, as you can clearly see from these few reviews, moviegoers certainly didn't enjoy this movie. Most, in fact, hated it, which is extremely rare. I don't recall the last time that I saw reviews this low, especially considering the star power of this movie.
