An FBI agent teams with a town's veteran game tracker to investigate a murder that occurred on a Native American reservation.
Action Crime Mystery - This is a dark, downbeat dramatic mystery/thriller. Fans of Jeremy
Renner and Elizabeth Olsen will enjoy, but some other recognizable
faces such as Jon Bernthal only have small roles. Language, violence,
and sexual content make the film strictly for adults.
PROFANITY: 25 F-words; 8 S-words; a number of others. SEX/NUDITY: A rape; nude dead bodies. VIOLENCE: Bloody shootings and killings. DRUGS/ALCOHOL: Some tobacco. ACTION: Chases and gunplay. COMEDY: None.
Roger EbertFull Review Good ...his storytelling is meaty but efficient, and his pacing moves along at a steadily engrossing clip before ultimately exploding in a startling blast of violence. ...Sheridan's script can be just as powerful in its quiet moments like these—in what the characters don't say to each other.
USA TodayFull Review Very Good ...thoughtful and intense.. Cowboys vs. Indians used to be the conflict, yet in this film, true justice is found when both work together. A sentimental belief, sure, but one that's entrenched in this cool and engrossing tale.
Rolling StoneFull Review Good ...he could have been tougher on his screenwriter on tightening the plot twists. No matter. Wind River packs an elemental power that knocks you for a loop.
Slant MagazineFull Review Below Average The film succumbs to its main character's didacticism: His perceived humility masks a smug, Manichean worldview. Lambert smooths over the film's more intriguing rough edges, uniting white police and native victims by way of dull, repetitive platitudes.
