The crown jewel of Her Majesty's Secret Intelligence Service, Agent Lorraine Broughton is equal parts spycraft, sensuality and savagery, willing to deploy any of her skills to stay alive on her impossible mission. Sent alone into Berlin to deliver a priceless dossier out of the destabilized city, she partners with embedded station chief David Percival to navigate her way through the deadliest game of spies.
Action Mystery Thriller - This very violent, 1980s-set action film is a big showcase for lead
Theron, with the other recognizable actors such as James McAvoy, John
Goodman, and Sofia Boutella having much smaller roles. In addition
to the many intense and brutal action scenes, sexual situations
(especially involving two women), strong language, and substance use
make the film strictly for adults. The presence of a female lead
gives this action film more appeal to women than most.
PROFANITY: Over 30 F-words; 5 S-words; a number of others. SEX/NUDITY: Sex with nudity between two women. VIOLENCE: Brutal, bloody fights, shootings, beatings, killings. DRUGS/ALCOHOL: Frequent alcohol and tobacco. ACTION: Fights, shootouts, chases. COMEDY: Darkly humorous and sometimes suggestive lines.
Berardinelli, Internet CriticFull Review Good Atomic Blonde is perfect summer entertainment in that it does what it promises for about two hours. It's brash, energetic, and exhilarating and, although it may lose points because of a lack of originality, it gains them back as a result of Theron's dedication and Leitch's style.
Roger EbertFull Review Good Without Charlize Theron, the spy adventure "Atomic Blonde" would only be clever. She makes it insightful. The actress gives emotional depth to the highly mannered behavior of the film's heroine... Theron's commanding performance is remarkable. Her take-no-bull body language and calculating stare give her character an intelligence...
USA TodayFull Review Above Average Take out the cool retro tunes, neon everything and the formidable woman of action, and Atomic Blonde tends more bland than Bond. In some instances, the plot gets so convoluted that it's hard to tell who's a friend and who's a foe.
NY PostFull Review Good ... the fighting is brutal: Like the best moments of the "Bourne” movies, her hand-to-hand combat is mostly soundtracked by bare guttural grunts (and punctuated by the occasional audience gasp, at least at my screening). The plot is a paper-thin excuse on which to hang the action sequences

OPINION OVERVIEW The following is the original "What's Worth
Watching" write-up for this movie.
Based on a theater exit polling of 52 moviegoers:
TEENS: Only about 35% of the guys loved this movie, which is low for this type of action movie. Another 12% enjoyed it very much, but have only rated it "average," which again for this type of movie is low for this group of moviegoers. The two females loved it.
TWENTYSOMETHINGS: The two males loved it, as did 4 of the 6 females. One of the two remaining females rated it "above average" and one rated it "average" (enjoyable but nothing special or memorable).
ADULTS: The male and female reviews are very similar. Forty-percent of the males and 45% of the females loved "Atomic Blonde." Another 40% of the males and females rated it "above average," which indicates a movie they enjoyed very much. About 20% of both males and females felt it was just an "average" movie, which is a bit low but not a bad review.
