A dad convinces his friends to start an illegal casino in his basement after he and his wife spend their daughter's college fund.
Comedy - This is a sometimes crude and raunchy and occasionally violent comedy
aimed at adult moviegoers. Fans of leads Will Ferrell, Amy Poehler,
and Jason Mantzoukas will find plenty to enjoy here while other
recognizable stars such as a briefly seen Jeremy Renner have much
smaller roles. Constant language, some comic but bloody violent,
crude humor, and drug use make the film not for kids.
Slant MagazineFull Review Below Average Nonsensical characterizations abound throughout The House without ever dipping into unbridled absurdity. The House's limp comedic pieces are only sporadically enlivened by a game cast...

OPINION OVERVIEW The following is the original "What's Worth
Watching" write-up for this movie.
Based on a theater exit polling of 52 moviegoers:
TEENS: Everyone loved it. There weren't a lot of reviews, but when everyone rates it "Fantastic" you know it's a movie you will almost certainly love.
TWENTYSOMETHINGS: Great reviews from both males and females.
ADULTS: Adults didn't enjoy "The House" quite as much as younger moviegoers, but approximately half loved it with quite a few more enjoying it very much. About 30% of both males and females rated it "average," which is a bit low, but certainly not a bad review. A small percentage didn't enjoy it and rated it "fair" to "poor."
