A Heffley family road trip to attend Meemaw's 90th birthday party goes hilariously off course thanks to Greg's newest scheme to get to a video gaming convention. This family cross-country adventure turns into an experience the Heffleys will never forget.
Comedy - This is the fourth film in the comedy series based on
the popular kids' novels, but there is an entirely new
cast this time around, featuring new young actors in
the leads and familiar veterans Alicia Silverstone and
Tom Everett Scott as the parents. As before, this film
would be considered safe viewing for most families, but
there are some crude toilet jokes that some parents may
find somewhat objectionable.
Roger EbertFull Review Poor You'll never know how good the first three "Diary of a Wimpy Kid” movies were until you're forced to see the fourth one. ... jettisons everything that's honest and worthwhile about the books in favor of hackneyed misadventures and gross-out scatological humor.
Slant MagazineFull Review Below Average ... the fundamental problem with The Long Haul, the latest film based on Jeff Kinney's popular book series, isn't so much the grossness of its humor as the laziness with which it's executed. ...the film features more than its share of bodily excretions..
