Storyline Heading
There are big changes brewing in Gotham City, and if he wants to save the city from The Joker's hostile takeover, Batman may have to drop the lone vigilante thing, try to work with others and maybe, just maybe, learn to lighten up.
.
Movie Type (Genre) Heading
Animated Action Adventure - This animated feature is a Batman adventure spinoff from The LEGO Movie, and as such its tone is very light and satirical while still delivering the comic book action. While families will find this safe viewing for kids, there are a couple of mild instances of language and some more sophisticated humor that only adults will understand.

Critic's Review Heading

Berardinelli, Internet Critic Full Review
Good The Lego Batman Movie offers enough action and silliness to enthrall children while providing sufficient pop culture and Batman-through-the-years references to keep adults entertained. The Lego Batman Movie offers an enjoyable superhero romp.

Roger Ebert Full Review
Above Average Basically, those who are batty for this stuff will positively devour all the Easter eggs that whisk by. But those who aren't as up on the 78-year history of the character will likely feel as if their brains have been scrambled.

USA Today Full Review
Very Good The movie features a few insanely busy action sequences that, while hugely entertaining, can't be maintained without leaving heads spinning. The slower, more expositional material may have some little kids squirming but for grown-ups, it allows for some of the best content.

NY Post Full Review
Good The movie slams the comedy pedal to the floor, racing through so many visual and verbal gags that it begs to be watched more than once. ...more childlike goofiness, less sophomore snark.

OPINION OVERVIEW
The following is the original "What's Worth Watching" write-up for this movie.

Moviegoer Opinions:

Based on a theater exit polling of 88 moviegoers:
GREAT REVIEWS, especially considering the type of movie it is. More than half of all groups loved it with most of the remaining reviews coming in "above average," which indicates a movie they enjoyed very much. About 25% of the older males felt it was only an "average" movie, which still isn't bad considering the type of movie this is.
