Mac and Kelly are ready to make the final move into adulthood. But just as they thought they have reclaimed the neighborhood, they learn that their new neighbors are even more out of control than the last. To evict them, they're need help from their ex neighbor.
Comedy - Like the first film, this is a crude and raunchy comedy aimed at a
young adult audience, but this one has a bit more young female appeal
due to the addition of sorority girl characters led by Chloe Grace
Moretz. Fans of original stars Seth Rogen, Rose Byrne, and Zac Efron
will not be disappointed. Constant language, drug use, and raunchy
humor make the film not for kids.
PROFANITY: Well over 30 F-words; over 30 S-words; 5 GD's; many others. SEX/NUDITY: Sex and sexy dancing and unrelated nudity. VIOLENCE: Comic hits and falls. DRUGS/ALCOHOL: Constant alcohol and marijuana. ACTION: A big foot chase. COMEDY: Banter, wisecracks, slapstick, drug humor, cute kid humor, gay jokes.
Roger EbertFull Review Below Average ..."Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising” barely qualifies as one. It looks like it was edited through some kind of shredder. The humor of the film is similarly raucous and vulgar to that of the original. So in the event that you're already a fan, this might hit the spot.
USA TodayFull Review Good The sequel script, co-written by Stoller, Rogen and others, is a step-up in terms of offensive fun: There are some joke grenades that take a few seconds to hit but turn out to be blistering.
NY PostFull Review Below Average If earlier Rogen and Stoller movies mined experience for laughs, this one is so contrived that it's like it began life as a checklist of things that are supposed to be funny today.
Rolling StoneFull Review Above Average Rogen and his crew aren't delivering anything fresh, but in this case familiarity doesn't breed contempt, just more laughs.
Slant MagazineFull Review Above Average Neighbors 2 has the same genial, ultimately villain-free tone of the original, but the filmmakers fail to give the action at Kappa Nu a confident comedic pitch.
