Alice Howland, happily married with three grown children, is a renowned linguistics professor who starts to forget words. When she receives a diagnosis of Early-Onset Alzheimer's Disease, Alice and her family find their bonds thoroughly tested. Her struggle to stay connected to who she once was is frightening, heartbreaking, and inspiring.
Drama - This serious and downbeat drama about Alzheimer's Disease is a major
acting showcase for Julianne Moore. Fans of Kristen Stewart will
also enjoy seeing her in a plum dramatic supporting part. Alec
Baldwin and especially Kate Bosworth's part is very small. Some
language and dark, adult subject matter make the film not for kids,
who would not be interested anyhow.
Roger EbertFull Review Above Average With a combination of power and grace, Julianne Moore elevates 'Still Alice' above its made-for-cable-television trappings, and delivers one of the more memorable performances of her career.
USA TodayFull Review Good While other Alzheimer's-related films, including Amour, Iris and Away from Her, delved more deeply into the subject, Alice is understated yet still moving.
