Notes:
U.S. Marine Sergeant Logan Thibault returns from his third tour of duty in Iraq, with the one thing he credits with keeping him alive-a photograph he found of a woman he doesn't even know. Learning her name is Beth and where she lives, he shows up at her door, and ends up taking a job at her family-run local kennel. Despite her initial mistrust and the complications in her life, a romance develops between them, giving Logan hope that Beth could be much more than his good luck charm.

Romantic Drama - Like all films based on Nicholas Sparks novels, this is a sentimental romantic drama. While starring young star Zac Efron, this film has a lot of older appeal, especially due to its talky and slow pace. His leading lady is newcomer Taylor Schilling. Some violence and sensuality make this film inappropriate for young kids though there is a main character who is a kid.

Berardinelli, Internet CriticFull Review Above Average The central love story is well-constructed for what it is; it offers the requisite amount of fantasy with just a miniscule dollop of realism.
Roger EbertFull Review Above Average 'The Lucky One' is at its heart a romance novel, elevated however by Nicholas Sparks' persuasive storytelling.
USA TodayFull Review Average So the clichés are as thick as a vat of honey. And the love story proves just as syrupy. But for those who lap up this sappy vision of romance, it contains all the key ingredients.

OPINION OVERVIEW The following is the original "What's Worth
Watching" write-up for this movie.
Moviegoer Opinions:
Based on a theater exit polling of 215 moviegoers:
WOW! The critics certainly missed this one. They said it was average or above average. These are very high reviews from all ages, both males and females. A very large percentage absolutely loved "The Lucky One." Only a few rated it average like the critics. The guys rated it slightly higher than the ladies so this is not a chick flick. Go See "THE LUCKY ONE."
