Notes:
A continuous camera shot, following Sarah and the horrifying ordeal she encounters at a summer home over the course of an evening. Where Sarah goes, the camera follows...and so does the audience as she tries to make sense of memories from her past and the mysterious figure stalking her.
.
Horror - While this is a horror film, there is actually little in the way of
gore and violence in general is at a general minimum. Central to the
film is a gimmick that makes the film look as if it were one single,
uninterrupted shot, but the main focus is star Elizabeth Olsen, for
whom this is basically a one-woman show. Language, violence, adult
subject matter makes this film too scary and intense for kids.
Berardinelli, Internet CriticFull Review Above Average Silent House represents one of the most intense, unsettling horror movies I have recently viewed.
Roger EbertFull Review Average My attention was held for the first act or so. Then any attempt at realism was abandoned, and it became clear that the house, and the movie containing it, were devices to manufacture methodical thrills.
Washington PostFull Review Above Average It will make you jump, to be sure, and your heart to beat a little bit faster. But what's truly scariest about it takes place not in the body, but in the mind.

OPINION OVERVIEW The following is the original "What's Worth
Watching" write-up for this movie.
Moviegoer Opinions:
Based on a theater exit polling of 31 moviegoers:
These are pretty terrible reviews overall. Even the target audience of teens didn't rate it very high. It's obvious this is a movie that you should probably avoid. It might be worth a dollar rental if you're a big fan of horror.
