Movie Type (Genre) Heading
Action Adventure - This movie is nearly non-stop, fast paced action and much of it is quite impressive. However, some of it is a little unrealistic and overdone. The story is pretty minimal and the dialog is sometimes difficult to understand. It's certainly a movie targeted at action fans.

Critic's Review Heading
Below Average

The above rating is an average of the critic reviews below.

(Close new window when finished with Full Reviews)

Entertainment Weekly   Full Review
Average "Kaos was apparently aiming for a coolly stylized, straight-faced take on ''Spy vs. Spy.'' As Maxwell Smart used to say, ''Missed it by that much.''''

James Berardinelli, Internet Critic  Full Review
Average "Despite having as many explosions, shoot-outs, and martial arts-enhanced fight scenes as any of its rivals, Ballistic has missed the point. This grim, joyless motion picture is anything but fun. It's a chore to sit through, with all the blazing, noisy pyrotechnics proving unable to lighten the mood.''

Roger Ebert  Full Review
Very Poor "The movie is a chaotic mess, overloaded with special effects and explosions, light on continuity, sanity and coherence.''

TV Guide Online  Full Review
Below Average "Kaos proves himself a competent action director who can stage a scene so you actually know where everyone and everything is in relation to everyone and everything else. But he hasn't learned to make you care: Sitting through this non-stop string of fight sequences is like watching an arcade game aimlessly playing itself.''

OPINION OVERVIEW
The following is the original "What's Worth Watching" write-up for this movie.

Moviegoer Opinions:

This was not a well attended movie. We were only able to collect 64 opinions. Surprisingly the ladies enjoyed "Ballistic" a little more than the guys. This may be partly due to the fact the Lucy Lu get to kick some major male behind.

Most people enjoyed this movie, but an unusually large number didn't care much for it. The opinions are certainly worse than I thought they would be.

I would have to say that you really need to be careful choosing this movie. Chances are not very good that you will truly enjoy it.

As I stated in my prediction, this movie is only for action fans because there's not much to the story.

Cinema Review Prediction: (before moviegoer opinions are collected)
This is a movie strictly for action fans and that's fine because that's the intended audience. The action is fast, cool and explosive, plus it's nearly non-stop and sometimes even unique. It is a bit unrealistic and unbelievable at times, but probably not something most will complain about.

Lucy Lu doesn't speak much but she gets to kick major butt. This movie may just help her to become a major action star. If you're into cool action and lots of it, you won't want to miss "Ballistic."

D ETAILED S TORYLINE
In the deadly game of international espionage, elite, anonymous operatives wage secret wars for power, information and national security.  Agendas are rarely what they seem.

Word has recently been circulating in these exclusive ranks of an ingenious new assassination device.  Microscopic and injectable, it lies dormant inside its victim until activated and then kills in an instant, leaving no trace.

In the frantic race to obtain this device, only two individuals, sworn enemies, have the skill, talent and tenacity to succeed.  One is an agent known only by the code name Sever (LUCY LIU).  Lethally trained to be the perfect weapon, Sever is precise and relentless in her pursuit of a goal.  The other is the brilliant and determined former FBI man-hunter Jeremiah Ecks (ANTONIO BANDERAS).

Once preeminent in his field, Ecks resigned from the agency when his wife was killed in an explosion that left him a guilt-ridden emotional shell of himself.  Now, forced back into service by his former mentor for the most challenging assignment of his career, Ecks prepares to face off against agent Sever, his most formidable foe.

In the fierce competition for this deadly prize there can only be one winner. But when the rules change, these two dedicated adversaries find that the one they're trying to defeat might be the only one they can trust.
