Academy Award-nominated director CHRIS RENAUD (Norman/Directed by) comes from a background in comic art, having worked for Marvel and DC Comics from 1994 to 2000.

Renaud moved on to production design for various television projects at the Disney Channel, Jim Henson Productions and PBS, where he oversaw all aspects of the animation and design process. He then worked as a story artist for Blue Sky Studios, contributing to several of the studio's feature films including Robots, Ice Age: The Meltdown and Dr. Seuss' Horton Hears a Who!

In 2006, Renaud conceived, wrote and storyboarded the Oscar-nominated animated short No Time for Nuts, which was released as part of the DVD series for the global smash-hit franchise Ice Age. He directed, alongside frequent collaborator Pierre Coffin, Despicable Me and Despicable Me 2. Renaud also helmed Dr. Seuss' The Lorax and The Secret Life of Pets. In addition to directing, Renaud has served as executive producer on numerous Illumination Entertainment features and shorts over the past five years.

Alongside Coffin and Eric Guillon, Renaud was one of the co-creators of the iconic Minions characters, which were developed during the making of Despicable Me.
