THE 15:17 TO PARIS

ALEK SKARLATOS (Alek / Co-Author) was an Army National Guard Specialist who, along with his two childhood friends, Spencer Stone and Anthony Sadler, made headlines around the world when they heroically overpowered a Paris-bound train travelling from Amsterdam via Brussels in August 2015. He has been awarded the United States Army Soldier's Medal from U.S. President Barack Obama and has received France's highest decoration, the Legion of Honor, from French president François Hollande.

Skarlatos, Stone and Sadler wrote about their experience, along with co-author Jeffrey E. Stern, and the book The 15:17 to Paris was published on August 23, 2016, by Public Affairs, an imprint of Perseus Books, a subsidiary of Hachette Book Group, Inc.

In the fall of 2015, Skarlatos accepted an invitation to compete on ABC's hit show "Dancing with the Stars" for Season 21 of the long-running reality show, and finished in third place.

Currently a resident of Oregon, Skarlatos is originally from Sacramento, California.
